Buying Your Next Watch Online

Posted by admin in Watches

Customers looking for a new watch online are simply amazed at the prices they see compared to the traditional brick-and-mortar jewelry store. The internet has enabled e-businesses to bring products to the consumers at jaw-dropping discounts. A watch is a fairly expensive purchase and you should do your homework before buying one online. First and foremost, make sure that the company is an “authorized retailer” for the watch brand you are interested in. When buying from an authorized retailer, you can be certain that your purchase will be new, factory sealed, and will come with the original manufacturers warranty. Authorized retailers must maintain the quality and customer service standards that are required to sell watches. The manufacturer (such as Citizen, Fossil, Rolex, etc) often require the retailer to have an actual storefront, have 24/7 customer service, have secure online ordering, they can only sell new products, and much more in order to maintain the dignity of the items sold. Buying from “unauthorized” retailers is NOT recommended.

Unauthorized retailers sell “grey market watches” because they cannot get the products directly from the manufacturer. They must instead get their supply from a third party or another country. Typically a manufacturer will take all of their watches that were overstock, were returned, were repaired, etc. and will sell them in markets overseas. Unauthorized retailers get their hands on these products and then try to sell them at a higher price back to you. They often don’t come with original packaging, may be used or damaged, and are never guaranteed by the manufacturer. Many “grey market” watches are repaired with cheaper non OEM parts that were manufactured overseas for a fraction of the cost. This allows them to bring you some of the lowest prices available, however you really are getting what you paid for. Only buy from authorized retailers! Find the watch you want, find it online for a great price, make sure the retailer is authorized, and you will be satisfied with your purchase.

Does Your Watch Keep Time with Fashion or Function

Posted by admin in Watches

If you haven’t lived under a rock for the past few decades, then you surely know that Rolex stands for luxurious precision timekeeping, and you know that Timex is the premier name in inexpensive, reliable timekeeping. The vast area between the two, however, offers the widest selection of watches-in terms of function, fashion and price.

We’re all creatures of habit, and if one watch has served us well for years, it’s natural that we gravitate toward the same brand and design each time we purchase a new watch. If you’d like to adorn your wrist with a different type of watch, perhaps a Swiss-quartz or high-fashion watch, we offer you a cheat sheet below, to help you get up to speed quickly with the many offerings available today.

If you’ve always thought of a watch as a functional necessity, you might add a few fashionable watches to your collection of watches and bracelets. If you’ve always worn high-fashion watches, consider adding an elegant watch to your collection, perhaps one with a golden mesh band. Whatever your requirements for timekeeping and your sense of fashion, you’ll find a watch to suit your needs.

Impress Your Colleagues Watches

In the exclusive $5000-$2,000,000 range, you’ll find a variety of luxury watches with names that escape the average man or woman on the street, and you won’t find any of these online. Does Vacheron Constantin or Blancpain ring a bell?

Perception is everything, and a genuine Rolex brands you a person of discerning taste. If you live in New York City, you might be surprised to learn that you can buy a Rolex from a bona fide jeweler, most likely in the 10021 zip code. Forget all the hype about Rolex watches: people buy them for one reason. They are the most recognized status symbols in watcheseveryone has heard of a Rolex, and a diamond and gold Rolex remains out of most everyone’s price range.

Rolex watches are the most popular, and ownership is not a requirement for popularity. It might surprise you to learn that Rolex watches are not THE most accurate. It is unlikely that they take a year to make, and their resale value is of little importance to their buyers. Ah, Madison Avenue strikes again. Still, a Rolex watch is a fine watch and an investment in time. Give me status; give me a Rolex.

Other fine high-end watches include Cartier and Omega.

Affordable Treats

If you’re a mere mortal with a penchant for arriving at your destination in style at the prescribed time (perhaps your job depends upon it), your idea of a good watch probably resides in the $100-500 range, and maybe even toward the lower end of that scale. You know the names Seiko, Swiss Army, Pulsar, and Citizenjust to name a few. The brands available in this price range offer a wide selection of choices ranging from simple and elegant leather bands, to mesh and link bands. You’ll find analog and digital displays, timers, calendar displays, water-resistance, etc. in this price range. In fact, this price range offers the widest variety in terms of elegance, precision time keeping, and fashion choices. You can select from a number of watches using Swiss-quartz movements in this price range.

For the Fun of it

You’ll find everything from designer-of-the-moment watches to household names such as Swatch and Fossil in the below-$100 range. The Fossil collections feature casual and dress watches in a dizzying array of choices, and provide dependable service as well. Fossil offers a lot of bang for the buckfashion, dependability, variety.

Starting at $40, Swatch offers the most in up-to-the-minute throwaway watch fashion. The company began late in the 20th century as a consortium of Swiss watchmakers and worldwide graphical designers with one goal: to resurrect the analog watch. Swatch has come a long way since those days, and one of their newer creations, the Skin Diamond watch, can set you back a cool $2000. Of course, you won’t run into yourself coming and going if you sport this new status symbol. The rest of us can settle with wearing our moods on our wrists.

A Review Of The Casio WMP-1V MP3 Audio Wrist Watch

Posted by admin in Watches

The Casio WMP-1V MP3 is an interesting product. Is it a watch like every regular watch? Yes and no, depending on what you mean by a regular watch. If for you, a watch means a timepiece or any instrument that tells the time, then the answer is a big “Yes”. However, if for you it means a small unobtrusive timepiece, then it is not.

Now to another question, Is this an MP3 player? Yes, if you refer to the ability to play files in that audio format. But a big “No” if you think of a player with the capabilities of an iPod.

The Casio WMP-1V MP3t has a lot of features jammed into it for such a small gadget. For its weight (70 grams) it does have a lot of features.

Now let’s get into this piece. It has poorly designed buttons since they are not very responsive. You’ll have to take out some time just to learn to use them. This is not just a personal opinion. I asked a few users too and they had similar complaints. However, they do their job, though. If you have some time to spend learning the ins and outs of this watch you probably will enjoy all the extras that come with it. But if you are not very technically inclined this watch will not be a good match for you.

The fast-forward and rewind buttons are also used to scan through songs. However, I was not really happy with the mode button. This mp3 player/watch has four modes. You’ll have to keep pressing through all the play modes before you can set you equalizer (Yes, this wrist watch also has an equalizer). I guess I’m so used to easier navigation that I’ve not given due consideration to the fact that there are few buttons. This gives the designers less options.

If you want the best wrist watch, look somewhere else. If you want the best mp3 player, try an iPod. But if you want a bit of both, the Casio WMP-1V MP3 is for you. That is if you don’t mind wearing a wristwatch that’s about four times your usual size.

This watch is a great piece if you want a secure MP3 player for running and doing other outdoor activities. It definitely is not going to fall off once you have it strapped to your wrist. But for its size I really was just not that impressed. Perhaps if the buttons were a little easier to navigate through then this watch would be more appealing to me, also if it was a tad bit smaller and fit on my wrist in a more natural way.
